TECHNIQUES WHICH ARE HELPFUL FOR LOW BACK PAIN


Low back pain is the gift of modern civilization. Stress and wrong posture plays a big role in developing low back pain especially in women and over-weight person. Generally there are some reasons to get low back pain like:-

  1. Osteoarthritis of Lumbar spine:-

Osteoarthritis of the Lumbar and the throacic spine is very common in those who are used to heavy work. It may be because of previous injury to the spinal joint e.g. history of fall on the buttock.

Previous disease of joints

Degenerative changes of the intervertebral disc.

     2.    Lumbo Sacral Strain:-

It may also occur in excessive bending and lifting or by the degenerative changes. Pain increases during evening hours.

     3.   Osteoporosis of  the lumbar spines:-

There is reduced bone mass per unit volume of the normal bone. The resistance of the bone is reduced. Lifting of an object in the forward bending position exerts the lumbar spines and develops back pain. There may be compression fracture of the vertebras which sometimes causes back pains.

     4.   Prolapse Disc:-

Prolapse disc is very common in the lumbar region which interferes the life style of a person due to pain in back or the leg.The inter-vertebral disc is a soft tissue which lies between the two vertebras. The intervertbral disc acts as buffer and neutralizes jerks. The disc is strong enough to bear jerks but after continous jerks and bad posture develops prolapse disc.

Actually i describe all about this, so that to know the concepts regarding these problems where I am giving some tips which are helpful in all kind of situations. So the patients suffering from low back pain must follow the following tips:-

  1.  One should go for bed rest on hard bed but on little bit firm mattress in the prone position. If it is not possible for you to lie in prone position then change your position in supine.
  2. One should not bend forward while picking something from the ground.
  3. One should sit properly on chair without any gap between your lower back and the support of the chair.
  4. One should avoid the sudden jerks.
  5. One should maintain good postural habits.
  6. One should lift of an object from the floor by the sitting position and not by bending of back.
  7. One should go for hot water fomentation which is certainly going to reduce pain but avoid fan,coller,air-condition while doing fomentation and after it upto 45 minutes.

Suggestions:-

  1. Sudden uncontrolled movements must be avoided.
  2. Excersises which overloaded the back must be avoided.
  3. There must not be strenuous sporting activity.
  4. Correct posture, is the answer of choice to prevent future recurrence.
  5. Working hours may be reduced on same position.
  6. One should avoid to "kick"  two wheelers while sitting on the seat.
